Sometimes I wonder if this kid will make it to his 8
th birthday. If it isn't one crash.... it is another! He already had a visit to the ER in August after hitting his head on a tractor and getting 4 stitches. Well, we had a new adventure over Memorial weekend. I was making pancakes for dinner and all of a sudden I hear Brooklyn yelling that Hunter had fallen. I get ready to run into her bedroom when she informed me he was not in there.... He was outside. He had fallen out her window. Brian and I go running outside to see where he was, there we find
Lynell, our neighbor, holding him. She had pulled him out of the window well. She said that she came outside for some reason she was not sure of and heard a loud thud. She ran over and he was standing inside the window well. Brooklyn had opened the window and he had push on the screen until it popped out and he fell out with it. He must have had angels around him. He fell 6 feet to the ground missing a large boulder and then fell another 3 feet into the window well.
My mom came over and took the girls so we could go check him out. He would take in a deep breath and then hold it for a while and then let it out. It was really scary. We got to the ER and they let us right in. They had to lay him on a board and put a neck brace on him. He was so brave. The doctor came in and looked at him. He started to cry when he toughed the right side of his back. They wanted to do a CT scan on him to make sure there was no internal bleeding. So he had to get an IV. When they tried to put it in his right arm, they could not get it in. So they had to try his left arm. He was crying and it made me want to cry too.
Hunter has a way with people. Even after everything that was going on, he still had the ER staff laughing. He was so cute. While they were getting ready to try again to get the IV, the blood pressure machine turned on and he told them that it has giving his leg a hug. He also liked the heart monitor. It was like a laser for Buzz
Lightyear.
Hunter got to go for a little ride on the bed and into the CT scanner. If you ask him, he got to go through a giant doughnut. Everything on the CT looked good. But the doctor told us that the result for his blood test to check his pancreas and liver, showed that he had bruised his liver and to watch him carefully. After, he was free to go home and get some rest. It was now almost 10:00.
Having Hunter fall that far and have nothing major wrong was a true blessing. He could have easily been hurt worse. I am so grateful for the blessings in my life. That the Lord watches over us and protects us.
